Women Over Forty

As I grow in age, I value women who are over forty most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over forty will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, “What are you thinking?” She doesn’t care what you think.

If a woman over forty doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it’s usually something more interesting.

A woman over forty knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of forty give a hoot what you might think about her or what she’s doing.

Women over forty are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it’s like to be unappreciated.

A woman over forty has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn’t trust the guy with other women. Women over forty couldn’t care less if you’re attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won’t betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over forty. They always know.

A woman over forty looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over forty is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They’ll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one! You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over forty for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of forty-plus, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some twenty-two-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free,” here’s an update for you. Now 80 percent of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.

There is more than  little truth to this.

  1. Oh Blondie - I love this post. And the last bit about marriage - oh so perfect. There are times I don't even like sausage. :)

  2. Oh, Blondie,
I, too, love this post! The older married couples know well that a spanking cannot save a marriage, but rather enriches the relationship one way or another. Great post! Hooray for older women. The young women will soon be joining us.

    1. You are right, spankings enrich not save a marriage. Best thing we could of done after 20++++ years of marriage. Love being in my 40's and looking forward to my 50's with the security I will find there.

  3. Glory be! And I can assure you that women over fifty and over sixty get even more relaxed, ready to shoot a man if he deserves it, and yet smile at his little inconsistencies and then ignore them. Such a great post - where did you find all these gems?!

PS Don't forget I need a paddle by end of June - not that my butt can take any further bruising at this point in time, but I have always believed in planning.

    Many hugs
    Ami

    1. Okay, I am going to hold you accountable for what you said about women or fifty and sixty. It's one of the things that I look forward to as the years pass by.
We definitely need to discuss this paddle thing and how to ship it.

  4. LOL! I hadn't heard the pig/sausage one before. Love it!! I'll remember that one. Actually, I love this entire post. There is a ton of truth to it all, and in today's youth obsessed society, it was very refreshing to read! Thanks :)

    1. I am glad you enjoyed it. When I read it, I knew that it was something that I couldn't skip over but rather I needed to post it. The 40's have been great for me and I wouldn't want to be a teenager ever again.

    1. I laughed at the last bit at the end. If anything (God forbid) happens to my husband, I would never remarry. Well for a couple of reasons, especially the one where no man could ever be as good for me as Ty. But also, the freedom to do as I please would be great.

    1. You are an overachiever. I spent most of my 30's pregnant or nursing. I finally got my body and mind back by the time I hit forty and now I am really enjoying it.

    1. Yep, I am heading towards my 50's. But Ty will always be older than me. I use to tell people I was 28 until my oldest turned about 14. Then I had to add some years to my age. Now that he is 20, I can still say that I am younger than 40. But I am having so much fun being this age. I would never want to be a teenager again. Now there is something to be said about having the body and the energy of a 20 year old. But my body has matured and I am who I am. You know about the whole Lent and exercising thingy.

    2. Look woman CLEARLY I know you are older than 40....sheesh.....Heck you are older than moi, but Barney is older than both of us....Ty is still the oldest though!

  10. LOLOL I love this post!! As a woman just over that 40 mark I can wholeheartedly agree with all of it! I look back at my 20s and 30s and think, "why did I worry so much about trivial stuff?" Lol

    1. If only we knew then what we know now. But I doubt that I could accept the knowledge when I knew everything at 21.

  11. Oh yes, I identify with this. As an some one who started motherhood in her 40s, seeing younger mums and how they stress about things, I'm glad I'm showing kids the 40+ version you describe.
Having said that, I wouldn't be this 40+ person if I had gone through the 20 and 30s and learnt from it all.

    1. You are brave to have started motherhood in your 40's. I am so set in my ways now that I don't know if I could do it. Now having five children, well by number 4 and 5, I am the oldest and most easy back parent there is. So enjoy that part of knowledge and lack of stress as a mom. I admire you. My mom was 38 when she started having kids and we all turned out pretty normal. Except for me, I love spankings

  12. I say those of us over....40---- 50 and so on.... just have the experience to ride those waves and hold on when we need, but let go when we should.

    Loved this.

    1. I can usually figure out which bloggers are over 40 just by the way they post and what they say. It is a good time and I am not worried about getting older.

  13. Blondie, this was precious!! I love that those of us over 40 - and I am well over 40 - are appreciated and celebrated. Some of us didn't find DD until recently and maturity hasn't hurt a bit in learning to navigate the pathways in this journey we are all on. Thanks for the laughs and the truths. We appreciate you more than you know. Ladybrittany

    1. You are so kind. Thank you. I really don't think that I could have accepted DD when I was younger. You are right, the older we get we are open to positive changes in our lives. Thank you for commenting.

  15. The first time I read this years ago, I wondered which strong and mature woman Andy Rooney p*ssed off. ;-)

It's all true enough, and I think many of us reach these things long before we turn 40, as Cat says. Wouldn't it be nice if we could keep the energy, stamina and limberness of our youth as we age into these wiser, stronger, calmer, more confident and grace-filled beings? Ha!

    Good post, B. Hugs!

    1. I have never seen it before but I was surprised that it came from Andy Rooney.I do wish my body still felt it was 20 but I would never go back to that way of thinking, no matter what. My body, at least the inside, sometimes feels overused and abused.
Thank you for commenting. I was missing you
