Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Wrapping paper with lots of tape. They look pretty and the kids can't peak

 

 Real tree or artificial?
 Real tree. Tradition to go and fine one, cut it down and bring it home. Plus
they smell good. When we take the tree down, we just throw it into the street

When do you put up the tree? 
Try to do it the first week in December. If we do it any sooner, sometimes the tree goes bad and we have to buy a new one.

When do you take the tree down? 
When we get tired of it. I always thought that we should wait till Epiphany but now New Years is fine.

Does Santa wrap presents or just put them under the tree?
Leave them unwrapped under the tree. Started doing this because we always put together their new toys from Santa and I refuse to wrap a new bike or a Barbie house.

Colored or white lights on tree or house? 
Colored. Ty loves all the colors

Do you hang mistletoe?
 No, at least not this year.

Do you like eggnog or hot chocolate?
 Chocolate always is my first choice, no matter what.

Favorite gift received as a child?  
Santa brought us new skis every year but I do remember getting the record player that I really, really wanted too.

Favorite holiday memory as a child? 
Not a big Christmas person. I couldn't even guess a favorite. Watching the Wizard of Oz and Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang was always a big deal to me.

Hardest person to buy for? 
My second son. He has always been the hardest since he was a little boy. And now at 18 he just wants the impersonal gift of money

Easiest person to buy for? 
My daughter. I know what she likes and we shop together a lot.

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
when I was five, kind of spoiled the magic

Do you have a nativity scene?
Yes

Mail or email Christmas cards? 
Neither. There was a time that we did it but when money was tight, we couldn't and now we just don't

Snow! Love it or dread it? 
I love the snow. Every year I dream of a white Christmas, like the ones I used to know. Where we live now, there is no snow just rain.

Can you ice skate?
Yes. Well I haven't done it in awhile but we used to skate on the creeks by our house and I have done it with the kids at some skating rinks. Love it

Favorite Christmas movie? 
Elf, I love to answer the phone "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" and I love It's A Wonderful Life

When do you start shopping for Christmas?
I try to have most of it done before the first of December.

What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Surviving it. And focusing on why we celebrate Christmas

What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Apple Pie and/or fudge.

Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Traded with my sister but never recycled.

Which do you prefer giving or receiving? 
I don't think anyone would ever say receiving. The holidays are about giving.

Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Anything chocolate.

Travel at Christmas or stay home? 
We stay home. Christmas is much nicer without the stress of relatives. Plus we have a big family and it would be hard to travel with them and their presents.

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher Dancer Prancer Vixen Comet Cupid Donner Blitzen... and of course Rudolph! Yep - but I have to sing the song usually

Angel on the tree top or a star?
Funny that you should ask. I grew up with an angel and Ty with a star. Somebody bought a Winnie the Pooh tree topper because it was such a disagreement between the two of us. Well this year, we were going to put up a star that lit up with soft colors. Ty had to trim the tree so the star would fit. Next thing we knew, there was the star and an angel on the top of the tree. My daughter wanted both of them. I guess we have started a new tradition.

Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning.
We needed the night to assemble their presents from Santa.

Favorite ornament theme or colour?
Our tree has a lot of home/child made ornaments. And each year the kids each get a new ornament to represent something in their lives. Personally I like snowflakes. For now, it is just a family tree with everything and anything on it.

Favorite for Christmas dinner?
Roast beef, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy etc. Pretty much all of the side dishes we had at Thanksgiving, but a roast instead of a turkey.

What do you want for Christmas this year?

Gift wise, nothing. My birthday is six days before Christmas so I get what I want then. This year, though, I had all of my kids and Ty and some extras at Christmas Eve service together. It has been a very long time since we had the entire family at church together. Great gift. And enjoyed hot chocolate and snacks together after the service. I couldn't be happier.
