My husband has wanted to go to this one certain place for a couple of years. And so far I have been pretty good about finding ways and reasons for not going. But I have finally committed myself to doing it. OMG
On Saturday, it is our anniversary. Number 22 for us. (Would anyone believe me if I told them that I got married when I was twelve?)
For the first time, since we have had children, we are going away for the night, alone. It is a big deal because we have never done that before. Remember we have five kids and who wants to babysit five kids overnight. The only time I have ever been away from them was when I was in the hospital having another child. They have gone away to camp and sleepover. Now we are finally going.
I am in charge of working out the details. My husband's only real condition was that we were close enough to home to get back in a timely manner in case there is an emergency. Where we live, that really isn't too difficult. Oh and of course there is always the money thing, no ritzy places for us. I was just looking for a room where we could spend the night. Privacy and no kids.
Then I got to thinking that this wasn't just about me, this was our anniversery. I figured I would at least try and see if we could get a reservation at this place he has been wanting to visit. Not only did they have a room but they wouldn't make us pay the two night minimum for one night. How could I not make the reservation?
This place is a clothing optional resort. People come from all over the world to stay here. And I am chicken.
I do not have this beautiful tan and fit body. I am a middle aged woman with fair skin and about twenty extra pounds. Not really thrilled with the way I look. My husband loves me the way I am, so I am comfortable in our bedroom but in public.....
This will definitely be a memorable weekend.
* leaving all the kids home alone for the night (and both days)
* staying at a nudist resort
* first anniversery in a long time that we want to spend together
* but unfortunately, he doesn't care if my bottom is red.
Maybe nervous isn't exactly the right word. I am sooooo excited to be with him. And I have made him so happy by agreeing to stay here at the resort. He is just so pleased and he still can't believe that I have finally agreed to it. Now I just need to behave for the next week.

Happy Anniversary! You're brave to agree, good for you! I hope you end up having lots of fun with it. Perhaps you'll find it liberating? If nothing else, you'll have one very happy hubby.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteDefinitely a happy husband. I am usually game for anything, once when it includes my husband.
I'm happy for you and very impressed! We said the same thing when we had a baby - we were going to take the occasional weekend away for ourselves. And we did! And we did! Nineteen years later, LOL! And we only had the two kids. But we should have gone a little more and I'm glad you are doing it. For the nudist part, I don't think I'm going to join you. I don't mind nudity, I just don't like the way I look. I have about 50 extra pounds and Nick doesn't have an ounce of fat on him. I'll keep my clothes on.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will tell us all about it - and happy anniversary!
Hugs,
PK
Awww, come on and join us it could be fun. Nick sounds like my husband. I am always fighting my weight, he eats everything and looks like he works out daily. I bet Cassie would go but not to sure Tom would let her. lol
DeleteThanks for the anniverary wish. This should be good and fun, a new adventure.
Holy Smokes! You are sooooo brave! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLoL Saoirse. Either brave or a temporary loss of sanity.
DeleteI think it is exciting for you both and Happy Anniversary a little early! Yes, please report back to us about your weekend. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am really nervous but I could always hide in the room and keep him busy. We should have fun. I will let you know and we will see if anyone wants to join us if we ever do it again
DeleteYAY this is soo cool!! Actually there is a nudist beach close to my house and I have been there with my friends twice!! For the first ten minutes you are there it's a little nerve-racking but then you get used to it and it's not a big deal!!! :) I hope you have a great time!! :)
ReplyDeleteJJ, if I was as young as you are I would probably be less nervous. But I am still young and it is exciting. Ten minutes, hmmmm, I am going to hold you to that - LOL
DeleteHappy Anniversary. Like JJ said, first few minutes are nerve racking and after that you feel liberated. Just remember, we come in all shapes and sizes, there aren't many fashion models around. A red bottom might be a good conversation starter. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave fun,
Sunnygirl, you crack me up. A conversation starter, that would be interesting meeting up with some spankos or people who spank for whatever reason (I am not picky). Like I said to JJ, I am holding you to your word, ten minutes. I really do look more like the woman in the bathing suit. I almost got in trouble because my husband thought, at first glance, that I had posted a picture of myself. Silly man
DeleteHappy Anniversary!!! I hope you have a wonderful get away. You are definitely braver than me!
ReplyDeleteThanks Zoe. Not sure if brave is the right word maybe crazy is a better one.
DeleteCongratulations on the Anniversary! AND on the courage it took to give him the adventure he has wanted for some time!
ReplyDeleteBUT... or should I say BUTT? Go without a red bottom! LOL
C, thanks, I am trying to keep my bottom white. Come on and join us. We can leave your seven and my five together somewhere. It could be fun.
DeleteOh wow! Very brave. I would be as nervous as you but I think it has the potential to be very liberating. Can't wait to hear how you got on. I'd also be on my best behaviour whilst there! Is it possible to just get sunburn on your bottom? :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun
Dee x
Dee, knowing me - I will probably sunburn everywhere. I am just hoping for shade. But a sunburn is a good excuse for a red bottom. Hmmmm
DeleteIt does sound like fun, congrats to you for getting out of your comfort zone. Keep that towel handy. Getting away is fun for about the last 8 years we have made it a point to go somewhere on our anniversary where we wouldn't take our kids (Vegas, New Orleans, Spa mud lounge) It's a blast. You are giving me ideas ;-).
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Laurie, I think that you have given me ideas for future anniversaries. I am saving up for our 25th when we are going to Mauii, that's where we went for our honeymoon. But Vegas sounds like fun.
DeleteWelcome Back to blog land Laurie. Nice to see a new post from you on Not the Petries. Missed you while you were gone.
DeleteOkay, something's not tracking for me.... You can get in trouble if you publish a pic of yourself in a bathing suit, but he doesn't mind your going to a nudist camp with him?
ReplyDeleteAnother perspective: Nobody has the perfect body. Lots of us have a few pounds to lose or wish to redistribute what they have. It probably really does become a non issue in just a few minutes.
And then another thought. I don't think I want to see everybody naked. If I were a betting man, I'd bet there are more guys than gals at those places, and that would do nothing for me except make me want to stay in.
I just couldn't BARE it.
Whimsically yours,
Mick
Mick, you have some good points. My husband is still a little concerned with the whole web and blogs. Once you post something, it is out there for anyone to see and you have no control over it or who sees it (like your boss). But if you see someone at a nudist place, it is kind of like a place where if you tell anyone that you saw so and so there, then you are also admitting that you were there. I am pretty sure that that is how he explained it when I asked him.
DeleteI agree with you about not wanting to see everyone naked - that is one of he reasons I haven't really wanted to go. With me, I am who I am and this is my body. But seeing some people naked just doesn't sound like something I would enjoy.
Butt, this is something my husband has wanted to do forever. He loves not having to wear clothes and he couldn't care less about the other people there. He just wants to be free to walk around with nothing on. And he is sooooooo happy that I am finally going to do this with him. (I just hope I can bare it -LOL)
Wow! Happy Anniversary Blondie, you brave lady you!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say...maybe I'll stick with "be good." It would be terrible to go with a red bottom.
Thanks Suzie! At least Dee gave me an idea to use if my bottom is red, I can say that it is sunburned. Lol
DeleteHoly Moly!! How very sweet of you to find the courage to do this for him. I'm sure that means a lot to him. It sounds like this has been a fantasy of his for a while, so I say throw caution to the wind and shake what your mama gave ya:)
ReplyDeleteAnd your first overnight alone since having kids...now THAT's exciting! Happy Anniversary!
Shanke what my mama gave me! Love it! It reminds me of the woman on Hermione's video today. Maybe after a few drinks I will toss off the towel(s) and enjoy myself. He just can't believe I am finally going to do this.
DeleteI hope that my kids aren't expecting a baby when we return since that is the only time I have been away from them. At 45 I may look a little pregnant but definitely done with being so.
Ha, I'm with Mick that I wouldn't enjoy the view much around me and I'd be too nervous to ever relax after ten minutes or ten hours...lol. But kudos to you for doing this for your husband, and of course we want an update. Wow, never gone away alone? That part surprises me more than the rest..so ENJOY.
ReplyDeleteWe go away together a few times a year, thank heavens for grandparents :) Also, FYI...I'm the gal who watches five or seven kids at a time so my friends or family can get away. Too bad you can't take advantage of me...lol. I have a big house, a big tv and patience guaranteed to last at least 24 hours- ha! (after that I may scar your children for life so please pick them up in a timely fashion..lol)
Stormy
Stormy, what if I fly to Australia and leave them at your house? And then we can go check out the continent and return in a timely fashion. By the way, three of my children babysit, two are lifeguard/cpr certified and the little boys are very good kids - very responsible. They are actually in charge when we leave town - lol.
DeleteIt's true, nobody watches all five overnight. I have had offers from people to watch one or two and I guess I could divide them up that way but then we would probably stay at our house and hide out. This is really the first time we will leave all of them overnight.
I lost most of my modesty delivering babies where there is no way to be private. Lol
I really don't want to do this but he is soooo happy and I wouldn't change this plan now for anything (unless there is a kid in the hospital).
