It all started with my husband kissing and caressing and loving on me. I wasn't feeling it. My head was killing me and I was really stressed out. I appreciate all the soft touches and kind words but I didn't have anything to give back
I love him enough to not turn him down for sex. It may not be the most rowdy or playful sex we have. Yet I didn't say no.
But that wasn't enough for him now. He felt unapprecitated and wanted more participation from me. He didn't hear me when I told him I didn't feel good and had a head ache. He heard me say no.
And pretty soon the discussion was more like this.
And then I was told that I had hurt his feelings. He told me he was going to go get some work done, cause work always makes him feel good about himself. And he left.
And for the first time in over three years, I burst into tears. I have not cried in so long. And this time I cried, deep, deep weaping and tears. My enitre body shook with sobs. My husband continued to be busy the rest of the day. Not noticing that I was upset. Not stopping to look at me when I was laying on the bed, trying not to cry. He came into the room, took a shower and left without even saying a word to me.
Finally, I told him that I was upset. I told him that I had cried. He couldn't understand why I was so upset. He felt like I was over reacting. He was pleased that I had finally let my walls down enough to actually cry. But he didn't understand why I was crying. He told me to write him a letter. He feels that I am better at explainging when writing them when trying to talk. And last night, for the first time in at least six months, he fell asleep with matters still unsettled. I have attempted to write him a letter three or four times. But I don't know how to explain how I feel. I feel so many things. Stupid for allowing my walls to crumble down enough to be hurt again. Naive for trusting that he was going to try and get to know me enough that when I am obviously upset, that he could tell and would care. I feel like this whole DD has been a farce. That I am willing to submit and allow him to spank me but he is not taking his role seriously to take care of us. I thought that we were working towards him leading the household and protecting us. That he would be willing to take the time to make sure that I am okay. And certainly, that he would not walk away or go to sleep when things are so unsettled.
And then this brought us to dd. I feel like I am carrying that too. I feel like I am doing it all. I tell him when to tell me no or when he should put his foot down. I tell him when I do something wrong and suggest that he should spank me. I try to not get in trouble so there is no need for a spanking. But then when we discuss a reconnect or maintenance spanking, it seems to go nowhere. I don't think that I should be in charge of this relationship.I want to just say f--k it. Yes there has been some good that has come around. But I allowed him to hurt me and he doesn't understand why I am upset. He doesn't hold me in his arms and promise that we will make things right. There is nothing. He says "I told you that my feelings were hurt. I communicated."But where was he to set things straight. Why didn't he try harder to make sure everything was okay. He is supposed to be the head of the house, to take care of us and protect us. He is the leader.
So I still haven't quite figured out what I want to say. Yet I know that we will work things out. We have no other choice. Our marriage is forever and domestic discipline has been very poitive for us. I just want to melt into him.

Oh Blondie, I can hear the hurt in your words. I guess if it was me I'd probably lay it all out and tell him how I really feel, all of it. But that's me and I know many wouldn't be comfortable doing that. I'd try not to start the conversation with the words "Okay, look buddy!", but you never know, I just might. I can and will be very blunt at times, when I'm fed up and feel I'm not being heard. It might come across a bit disrespectful, but sometimes that seems to be what it takes. Sometimes it pays not to sugar coat things. Sometimes a wake up call is needed. Sometimes you just plain need to be heard. But then again, perhaps today isn't the best day for me to be giving advice. I hope the two of you can get on the same page.
ReplyDeleteGrace, thanks for your kind words of encouragement. I am usually pretty good at laying things our, blunt or not. But is was hard for me to explain pain. The letter was written and he read it and lines of communication have opened. We have no real choice but to figure this out, there is no other option. I am sure he will figure this out for us. Thanks
DeleteBlondie, I'm glad that you were able to communicate with him, even if it was difficult. I'm sure the two of you will sort this out, working together. (((hugs)))
Deletei am sure that you will find the right words, even if it takes a little while for them to come. I do that, sit back and just let the words come to me...then i write it down.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes feel that im carrying this DD relationship, telling him when i have been bad, suggesting a spanking, but its getting less and less like that...we have only been doing it for a little while and i guess as i took the idea to him i feel its my responsibilty in part to carry it on and not let it slide. Im kinda hoping that in time as he gets more and more confident in ttwd and his role as leader he will take over more and more...getting there slowly - maybe its the same for your hubby? I find it helps me to think of telling him what i have done wrong as a confession as such...he is not with me all day and doesnt see or get to know about what it is i might have done unless I tell him......you could maybe think of it like that...a confession....confession is good for the soul if not for the butt? :)
Im sure you will work it out when the words come...and Im sure they will..good luck and let us know how you get on
love and hugs kiwi xxx
I am glad that I am not alone, feeling that I am carrying the relationship. Thank you. As he told me last night, we have had a different relationship for 25 years and it is going to take some time for him also to get on board 100%. I like the idea of confession too I just don't want to be accused of bratting. Thanks for you kind words
DeleteI've felt the same way before too. I will say, in relationships...there are cycles. And right now you are on the "bad" part....but if you stick with it and you are patient and loving and find a good way to approach him, you'll get back on the "good" part. And as for your husband, I dont' know if you have ever read the Gods Gift to Him blog...but on the sidebar there is a great four part series written by the woman's husband that is SOOOOO good. My husband read it and maybe yours will too. The author doesn't write anymore...but the information is really great.

Ashley, I am going to check out that websight right away. Yes we do have ups and downs, a roller coaster ride. We have been through some really bad times that this doesn't even compare to. My husband is always open to advice so I am sure he too will read the blog. Thanks
DeleteI know it will be okay. You guys always find your way back. Just hang in there and until he comes to his senses... Just keep venting to blog land. Hugs!!!!
ReplyDeleteSarah, Thanks for everything. Thanks for helping me write my letter. Thanks for slapping me around when I wanted to quit and thanks for believing in my husband when I was hurting. We both appreciate your friendship.
DeleteBoy, do I know this feeling. Sending hugs your way, blondie. Hang in there...and remember...you can't smack him. :)
ReplyDeleteDang it, why can't I smack him. Lol Thanks for your support. I know you know how I feel. Men, gotta love them.
Delete*Hugs* to you Blondie. I feel for you and hope that you two are able to talk and that you work it out. I think the fact that you recognize how good DD has been for your relationship shows that it isn't a farce, you have seen real and beneficial results. Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Riley, yes DD has been good for us. But I felt like it allowed me to be vulnerable and hurt. My husband is a wonderful man and he never quits trying. I know once I can explain how I feel and why, he will respond in the right way. One thing we do well is communicate. And so he tells me to write it down so he can understand. Thanks for your hugs
DeleteBlondie, it sounds so trite to say that this will get better when you are in such pain. I hope that by now the two of you have talked some. I can't imagine how hard it would be to cry for the first time and then have my husband not see and immediately want to comfort me. DD does work, you are right and for whatever reason, your husband has built some pretty big walls around himself. Please let us know how you are doing. Sending lots of hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie! Yes we have talked some and I think that we are back on the right track. He is sorry that he made me hurt enough to cry but was pleased that I had come so far to finally let the walls down. But they were going back up fast if he didn't do something. Thanks for your encouragement.
DeleteHi Blondie. Sorry to read you're feeling so rough right now. I don't know about your husband, but if he's like most men, admitting that his feelings were hurt was a major revelation for him. Men can speak of their vulnerabilities almost in whispers, but they think it should communicate.
ReplyDeleteSomethings take longer than a day to be resolved. That's not a failure, it's just a bigger task than usual.
I hope things look better to you soon.
Mick, thank you for the man's perspective, that means a lot to me. It was a real big thing for him to admit that his feelings were hurt, I agree.
DeleteThis will take time to work out and get right. But there is no other option. We continue to grow and learn. Our love is pretty strong and he never ever quits
Why don't you suggest he reads your blog? It seems like you've laid out what is bothering you pretty well.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Kitty
P.S. Good luck making him feel good about himself, too!

Hi Blondie,
ReplyDeleteI've just started reading your blog. So sorry about your current rough patch...I hope you and your husband are able to get back on the same page soon!
All the best, Tess
Tess, thanks for reading my blog. We are working at getting back on track. Time is so limited at our house that at times we are like ships passing in the night. But it will happen. Thanks
ReplyDeleteSorry to be reading this so late, Blondie. I too, struggle with this one often. Learning Curve-remember? Hope things are better now-if not, I know they will be.
