For those of you who hate leather, please read no further
We need some assistance from the leather people. We need to know what you like, why you like it and what you would like it you could design your own leather spanking implement.
I know what I don't like. I don't like my Ty's belt. It is too narrow and sometimes, even as hard as he tries, the belt can turn. And if he isn't super careful, the belt can wrap around the my bottom too much and get my side. OUCH
Also we have a little spanking paddle. It is lightweight and makes a lot of noise. It feels like slapping and it is more annoying then anything else.
I think that we are going to hold off on making tawse(s) yet and just work on paddles.
How wide would you like one to be?
How long (not including the handle) would you like?
How thick would be what works best?
Would you prefer a wooden handle or a leather handle?
Double or single strap?
Come on, please be brave and give me some ideas. If not, the paddles will be what I would like. And we might miss out on making some other great paddles.
And if you are not a leather person, and you are still reading this, please ask yourself why?

We haven't tried any leather other than the belt but SM can't tell how hard he is smacking my bum so he doesn't much like to use it. I'm curious about the leather paddles though and also what belt alterations you could make... decisions decisions... :) Must be fun making those things. SM said he might try making something too. I told him you guys already do that!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting about hos SM can't tell how hard he is smacking. Maybe the two of you can take a paddle and the belt. Without smacking hard, he can do a swat with each one and you can tell him how one compares to the other. Then at least he might have a little information to go on. I don't know. Just a suggestion..... from someone who doesn't even get much of a say in the spanking. Lol
DeleteHe is a really muscular strong guy and I think he just worries too much. ;) He primarily uses his hand and he does long slow forceful spanks that hurt like HECK!!!
DeleteOUCH!!!! I know sometimes I wonder if Ty actually knows his own strength. I want tell him "too hard" but I think that that would get me into more trouble. Lol. I suggested that he let me show him how much it hurts - that doesn't fly well either.
DeleteI am a true lover of leather. I love Nick's belt but I wouldn't want anything more narrow than your average man's belt. It does have the problem of wraparound at times, but I don't even mind that so much since it tends to stay sore for a day and I like that. Look on my mast head and you'll see the beautiful leather paddle Nick got me when we went to CA. I like it but the leather is almost too firm. We have a leather strap that we ordered an I like it but it's really long (14 inches). Leather is wonderful - it can sting like hell, but it's still yielding. I'm going to be very interested in what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm looking for something about 8 inched long (not counting the handle) and about 4 inches wide, fairly stiff leather, flexible but thick enough stick out straight without flopping. Probably leather for the handle too. Let me know when you begin, I'm interested!

We have a leather paddle AND a leather looping johnny. I don't see leather looping johnnys many places. Ours paddle is about 10 inches long, and 3 inches wide. I like the look of the round ones though. I find that leather doesn't hurt that much ( minus the looping johnny). But I might be interesting in a leather one like your pocket paddle?

I love leather. We have a leather strap that doesn't get used often unfortunately. The reason being Ray has arthritis in his writs and unless something has a longer handle, he has to use too much of his wrist to get any swing. I love this strap and it gives a lot of sting and you feel it for a while. The leather strap is 10" long, 1 1/2 wide, and 1/4 in thick split into two pieces of 1/8 each. It is pretty stiff leather, doesn't flop down when you hold it straight out. If you could come up with something like this with a handle of about 8 inches added to it, consider it sold. The handle could be either leather or wood. I have no preference and doubt Ray does.

Something not as wide as the pocket paddle but about that length, stiff leather. :)
ReplyDeleteCan you please be more specific. The pocket one is about 5-5 1/2" at the widest part. So made a small one the size of that paddle but more like 3" across? Do you want the leather one the same size as the pocket paddle plus a handle. or the entire paddle to be that size?

DeleteI also have to admit, that I too own a Lexan paddle, a gift from an old friend, who wanted me to experience the sting of a Lexan. I got used to it but then we stopped using it so I don't know how it would feel now.

Well the friend who gave me the lexan has disappeared out of my life. I think that she wanted to let me share the painful joy of that thing. Plus it scored major points with Ty. It is a different feeling than wood or leather but it doesn't feel horrible like rubber or things like that.
DeleteAnd I think that the whole giving friends certain spanking implements started with Christina sending a wooden spoon to Rogue. And they are still the best of friends.
Please, if you want to be my best friend, do not send any kind of spanking implement. It will be returned and it may be accompanied with the lexan I still have hidden away.
Although, honestly, a shorter, wider version of the doggin bat (minus any rods) sounds like a great implement.

I love my husband's wide, flexible leather belt. But, yes, something shorter that didn't have to be doubled over would be better.

DeleteWe had a really nice leather paddle from leatherhorn and honestly...it was beautiful but it wasn't my favorite because it was loud and one smack it hurt and then the next one didn't --- so you never knew what to expect and it made me super uptight. I love/hate wood. I think something like a wide leather belt would be nice because you wouldn't have to worry about the wrap around but it would give the same feeling as being spanked with a belt. Z doesn't...errrr....know how to use a belt? He doesn't know how to wrap it around his hand, or if he's suppose to bend it in half...and has always hit the sides of my legs lol

We have a leather paddle that I bought, because it was cute( yeah go on laugh, I'm stupid like that) but it's loud and hard and slaps and as you say it annoys more than anything else.
Now as much as I hate getting spanked, I have to say if I had a choice it would be his belt, it's sort of thick and wide and does really sting, but it's a hell of a lot better than wood any day. And it doesn't dig in like the paddle.
I think for us, if I HAD to choose something, it would be something that is quieter, and more flexible. The leather paddle we have can actually bruise when the corners hit the sides. The corners are really hard and it digs in. So I would say if paddle, then the corners should have some sort of protection, if that makes any sense :)

Hmmm, now that is something to consider. I bruise so easily that maybe there is something out there that could help. We can certainly find out. I hate those slappy things, they are so annoying.

DeleteLike Missy J we have a pretty pink leather paddle that was one of our first implements, but to tell the truth even when used ferociously I can cope with it quite well, apart from where it digs in at the edges and gives me corner-shaped bruises that last ages and ages.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I can now impart the information that I have purchased a beautiful 'rose' paddle from Leatherthorn to give Dan next week on our 36th Wedding Anniversary! I have it well hidden although I was tempted many a time to get it out. Ronnie tells me it hurts like hell, and Terpsicore loves hers, so I will let you know when we use it! It is roundish and I am hoping it won't dig in.
Dan refuses to use a belt because he was once belted as a boy and has never forgotten or forgiven. I managed to get him to use one just the once and it felt great after using the wooden hairbrush and the wooden bath brush, but he got tangled up in it and we just giggled in the end. And he still won't try to use one properly.
What the heck is a doggin bat? No one will tell me. Is it awful?
BTW, what sort of a wooden paddle would you recommend for a beginner to wooden paddles? Minelle loves hers!

From our selection of wood paddles, a lot of women have been ordering the pocket paddle. It is a small paddle made of pine and can come in different shades and colors. Personally I like oak better, like our mini red oak spanking paddle. Pine is probably the kindest of the woods and oak is probably the second. It is harder than pine but not thuddy hard. Minelle's is made of oak. Rogue loves her pine pocked paddle. But as a beginner, stay away from the heavy wood, like poplar. You can work your way up to them. They are pretty awesome and I love them but we have been spanking for a while.

Anonymous, I am not sure you are being serious or not. But, like Irishey, I can never imagine using any kind of book except for reading. To me, books are like presents waiting to be opened. I love reading and I could never do any kind of damage to any kind of book, even a journal.
DeleteI did see some paddles around that look life the bottom of a boot. It wasn't something I liked. It made me think of being kicked. In our home, we spank only on the bottom with certain implements. A boot seems to be demeaning or even humiliating.
But I will pass your idea onto Ty since I did ask my readers for ideas.
I'm so excited to read this!! We want a leather paddle so badly! I'm still not well educated on leather, but what i'm actually looking for is one that would be effective for discipline! Something with a good handle, a good grip, and a good sting mixed with thud, lol. So I don't have the best insight or the best advice on what to make, but I do know we're looking for leather, so i'll be anxiously, yet patiently waiting the new implements. :)

ReplyDeleteWhen Will actually spanks me, I love the leather. It's stingy and warm and hot. He either uses his regular sized belt looped over once so that it's shorter, or our smaller leather paddle which is kind of noisy and stingy but doesn't *hurt* if that makes sense.

ReplyDeleteIt's great you are branching out into leather implements as well as the wooden paddles.
I like our leather paddle, it is quite noisy though and depending on how it is used can be either yummy or it can pack a punch. We have had the same issues as you describe with the belt. Can be difficult to handle and can wrap around sometimes. As you know, Rick recently got a new belt that is much thicker and wider. I will have to give you a comparison between the older, more worn leather and the new. My bottom hasn't been acquainted with the new belt yet :)

We have tried a leather belt, but the Duke finds it very hard to control. I think that would be a big thing for us. Also, sound... would love to find something that is more quiet. :) The Duke likes something that he can hold onto well, so I think the wood handles and then leather paddle would be great. :) Or if you can find a way to stiffen the leather for the handle. :) I guess my dream paddle would be flat on one side, and have a design in it on the other so that it left an imprint. Something like a bee's hive, or a basket weave. :) Willie showed me hers like that, and I just loved it. :)
